Pulled this together for the readers who kinda want Christmas and books in the same breath. Its a stack of hardcover books arranged so theyre widest at the base and taper up to a star at the top, each spine in a different colour. Red spines, green spines, cream pages showing at the edges, and a loose strand of old-style bulb lights winding around the whole stack. really satisfying to watch come off the machine because each colour stop adds a new layer to the scene.

Set up in my workhorse software. The 9-colour sequence runs cream fill first for the page edges, then works through red, orange, light blue, two shades of green, dark green, black outlines and finally white highlights. That order keeps each colour section clear of the ones underneath and avoids the bobbin drag you get when you try to stitch a dark fill over a light one with no underlay planned in.

This is the kind of design that earns cutaway stabiliser on any fabric. The stitch count goes up to 67,789 on the large size and the density hits 1,474 per square inch, so the fabric needs solid backing or it will shift during the long run time. An olive or dark green corduroy backing handles the density fine and the thread colours all read clearly against it. For a tote bag front or a pillow cover, this is the one you hoop with your best cutaway and let it run.

One customer sent me a message after digitising it onto a dark corduroy tote she was making as a teacher gift. She said her colleague cried a lil bit when she saw it. That one stuck with me.

Stitch it on a corduroy tote for a book-lover friend. Use the mid-size on a reading pillow cover. Add it to a fabric book bag or a Christmas stocking for a library theme. Send me a note if any colour stop isnt aligning right and Ill check the file for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Corduroy or canvas tote bag for a book-lover Christmas giftOlive or forest green corduroy makes the multi-colour spines stand out clearly.
  • Reading pillow cover with a library or study room themeThe mid-size at around 4.5 inches fits a standard reading pillow front panel well.
  • Christmas stocking with a literary or school themeThe 9 colour stops give the stocking front a fully illustrated look.
  • Fabric book bag for a teacher or librarian giftA dense woven book bag fabric handles the high stitch count without puckering.
  • Holiday wall hoop in a home office or reading nookFramed in a 10-inch hoop, the tall format fills the display space naturally.
  • Fleece blanket panel for a cosy Christmas reading gift setCutaway backing on a fleece panel keeps the fill columns stable through washing.
  • Kids Christmas outfit with a book and learning themeThe star topper reads clearly even on a busy print fabric if you pick contrasting threads.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
