Alright so a tabby kitten in full Christmas elf gear, and Im not gonna pretend it isnt the kind of design that makes you grin alot when its running on the machine. Striped green and red elf hat with the floppy point flopping over and a white pom on the end, plaid red scarf bunched around the neck, a green ugly sweater with a yellow buckle right at the belly and little gold star details on the bottom band. The tail curls up beside the body in candy-cane red and white stripes.

9 colours total at a density of 1335 stitches per square inch, which lands on the heavier side because the sweater satins overlap the tabby fur underneath and we needed real coverage so the tan doesnt grin through. Stitch range runs 22,100 at the smallest 3.51-inch version up to 57,461 at the 7.51-inch. I digitised it in digitising tools with cross-hatch fills on the fur so you actually get that striped tabby texture instead of one flat tan blob, and the white hat brim sits on a triple-pass underlay so it doesnt sink into the green satin underneath.

Heres the thing about a 9-colour design on a single-needle home machine, expect to camp at the colour-change stop a few times. One customer wrote me last December that she ran the 5.51-inch size on a kids fleece pullover and it took her about 45 minutes start to finish with thread swaps. She loved how the green eyes turned out, the iris fill has a darker outer ring that gives it that wide cartoon stare.

Best on a stable mid-weight cotton fleece, sweatshirt fabric, or linen tea towels, anywhere the satins have something firm to grip. Hoop with medium cutaway stabiliser, two layers if youre going on stretchy french terry. Skip light woven shirting at the larger sizes, 57k stitches will pucker on thin poplin no matter how well you stabilise it. Pop a layer of water-soluble topping over fleece so the white pom doesnt sink in. Pair this with a matching candy cane or gingerbread design for a holiday set.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
