Round chubby chicken with a giant red Santa hat slumped sideways and a holiday bulb strand wrapped twice round its body. The hat has that fluffy white cuff and pom-pom drooping over its right eye, eyes shut content like its already had a glass of mulled wine. The bulb strand is the hero here, 6 bulbs visible in alternating red green yellow with a dark green wire trailing across the cream feather body. Two skinny yellow chicken feet poke out beneath, looking faintly ridiculous.

5 colours total and the digitising layers them clean: cream for the feather body, red for hat and lights, white for the hat cuff and bulb highlights, green for wire and bulb glass, yellow for feet and lit globes. Density runs at 995 which is dense enough to make the cream feathers look properly fluffy on woven cotton. Each bulb is its own tiny satin oval so dont rush colour swaps, the thread changes 4 times in sequence and digitising tools kept the path tidy.

Five total sizes available, 12,082 stitches at the little 2.6 inch climbing to 35,077 at the 6.6 inch. The smallest will work on a kids christmas stocking patch, biggest fills a tea-towel pocket nicely. Send me a quick line if you need a different aspect ratio version too.

Sew on white cream cotton, linen tea towels, sage flannel or natural canvas. The black outline carries the whole design so any pale solid ground reads great. Pick a medium cutaway for jersey and fleece because bulb satin needs proper stable hooping. Tearaway holds fine on woven cotton. Avoid red ground fabric because the hat and bulbs will vanish into it, theres no contrast there at all.

Last november a customer grabbed the 4 inch on cream linen napkin sets, 12 of em for a family christmas dinner and said they were the highlight of the table. The smallest also works lovely on a baby christmas onesie. Drop a fresh note if anything stitches off and Ill swap the file over for ya.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas kitchen towels and tea towelsA cotton tea towel at the 4-inch gives a farmhouse Christmas kitchen look that gets noticed every time the towel comes out of the drawer.
  • Holiday aprons for kids and adultsCentred on an adult apron bib or scaled down for a child-size apron; the satin feathers hold up through light washing with a firm cutaway behind.
  • Farmhouse Christmas tote bagsThe 5-in face on beach tote front makes a gift bag that doubles as a reusable bag all season; I always get requests for these in November.
  • Seasonal oven mitts and pot holdersThe compact 2.59-inch size fits neatly on an oven mitt front panel without crowding the edges; tearaway backing is enough on thick oven mitt fabric.
  • Holiday quilting blocks and wall hangingsCut around the stitched block on white quilting cotton and piece into a holiday wall hanging with red border strips; easy to frame in a hoop.
  • Christmas gifts for farming and homestead enthusiastsWrap the finished item as a standalone gift for anyone who keeps backyard chickens or loves a farmhouse aesthetic; this one always lands well.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
