Baby dragon sitting up in a perfect little christmas pose, red santa hat on its head, holding a gift box with both claws. Its alot of detail for a character design, six colour stops and nearly 40,000 stitches at the 7-in placement size, which is why I priced it in the complex tier. But the payoff is that plump green body with the velvety dense satin fill, the beige wings with their slight texture, and those oversized cartoon eyes that read clearly from across a room.

The colour sequence runs: deep green for the body, cream for the belly, beige-gold for the wings and horn, red for the hat scarf and gift box, white for the pompom and eye highlights, black for the outlines and eye centres. Density sits at 815 on the body areas. Pop a polymesh cutaway on any fabric youre stitching this on, the stitch count is too high for tearaway and youll get shifting on the dragon belly satin fills if the backing isnt locked down. Slow your machine speed for the face area so the eye detail stitches cleanly.

Five sizes from 3.51 x 3.02 inches at 15,794 stitches up to 7.51 x 6.47 inches at 39,598 stitches. At 7.5 inches this is a centrepiece design for a hoodie chest or bag front panel. The 3.5-inch is small enough for a child's shirt pocket or a drawstring bag. I'd recommend the 5 or 6 inch range for most sweatshirt chest placements, it hits the right proportion without the hat tip getting too close to the neckline.

My customers love this one for kids christmas gifts, gifted items, and dragon-fan adults who also happen to celebrate christmas. One customer ordered 12 of these on matching grey hoodies for her kids group last december. Stitch on white, grey, or navy for the best colour contrast on the green body. Avoid dark green fabric as the dragon disappears.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
