A gnome who has fully given up on the lights and is fine with it. The tall striped hat, red and teal bands spiralling up to a white curled tip, leans to the right at about 45 degrees. Hands raised with fingers spread wide. The long grey-white beard covers almost everything below the nose, so its really mostly hat, beard and hands. String lights loop around the whole scene, yellow and blue bulbs on a white wire, scattered like they got thrown there on purpose. Its chaotic and its charming.

The hat is the star of this piece technically. Satin column stripes track the spiral of the hat shape without breaking at the seam, the digitising handles this by splitting each stripe into segments that follow the bend. Density sits at 683 and stitches run from 14,405 at the smallest up to 37,075 at the 7.24-inch wide version. 9 colours, a few thread swaps, but colour sections are cleanly separated and run in a logical order. Tearaway stabiliser works fine at the smaller sizes. Switch to a light cutaway if you go above 5 inches on stretchy fabric and dont rush the floating bulb sections, thinner satin fills there.

I get a lot of messages from people making personalised christmas gifts for teachers, receptionists, cafe staff, anyone who works somewhere that puts up a tree every year. This gnome has a universally likeable energy that doesnt need any explanation. Lowercase christmas charm, the kind of thing you stick on an apron pocket and just enjoy. Works on practically anything woven. Red canvas totes, cream cotton aprons, white fleece zip-ups, navy backgrounds that make the teal hat stripes pop.

Pop the 3.38-inch on an apron pocket, card pouch, or gift tag base. Dont place it centred on a square patch though, the wider-than-tall composition suits landscape formats much better. Go for the 7.24-inch on a cushion cover or a tote bag front panel. Thats where the composition really fills the space without the hat feeling cropped. Centre it slightly above the midline on a tote and the whole gnome drama lands properly.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
