This cute christmas goose is having a great time. It stands upright on two red-orange feet, body round and full, done in that crosshatch etching style on canvas or medium-weight cotton where the fill is rows of thin angled lines crossing each other so the cream fabric shows through in a grid pattern. Up close it looks like an old engraving. On fabric with a little texture it reads as a vintage illustration rather than a cartoon.

The hat is a proper red Santa hat, wide brim of white fleece, cone leaning off to one side the way a soft hat would, white puff at the peak. One wing is raised and angled outward, not quite a wave, more like a goose version of a shrug, like it knows whats going on and finds it mildly amusing. The beak is that deep red-orange colour geese actually have. The dark outline runs all around and separates each area cleanly.

Five colours, density at 1,120 stitches per square inch, so the crosshatch fills stitch with real definition and dont flatten out. Five sizes from 3.51 by 2.47 up to 7.51 by 5.29. Use a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser because the dense crosshatch pulls hard on knit or loosely-woven fabric. Skip thin jersey, it wont hold the fill properly. Works best on canvas or medium drill cotton.

A customer who does embroidered aprons for a country market told me she pairs it with a serif name block below and sells them as personalised aprons every December. Dm the shop if the crosshatch fill direction pulls the base fabric and Ill send the colour-stop reference.

What people are using this design for

  • Quilted wall hangings for rural or farm-themed decorStitch on cotton canvas and hang in a kitchen or entry hall, the upright pose fills a portrait frame cleanly
  • Personalised tote bags for farm-shop gift packsPut the medium on a kraft shopper bag filled with locally-made jam for a farmhouse market gift
  • Patch for a work apron or canvas bagStitch on a canvas off-cut and sew as a patch onto a bag or apron, cutaway backing keeps it stable through washes

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
