This kitten is doing that classic cat thing where it props itself up with its paws forward and just stares at you. The fur is worked in two greys and an off-white, all built up with a dense sketch-style satin that reads almost like pencil hatching at arm length. The red hat sits a bit sideways, the white trim peeking out at the brim, and the heavy black outlines running 15,067 stitches give the whole thing that bold graphic-novel look.

Its a beefy design, 31,046 stitches at the 3.51 inch size already, and at the full 7.51 inches wide you are looking at 73,818 stitches so the machine will be running a good while. But thats where the detail really pays off. The grey layers build real fur texture and the cat's big round eyes get their own fine detail stitching.

Hoop a firm cutaway stabiliser for this one, the stitch density needs it. Slow your machine down 20 or 30 percent for the dense fill sections. Six colors, five stops, so its not a complicated thread change sequence but you'll want your grey and off-white threads wound ahead of time.

Send me a note if the thread colors need tweaking for your stock and Ill send alternatives across. I get questions about this one every November from people making holiday gifts for cat owners. Christmas kittens sell well on kids items, holiday shirts, and seasonal totes so its a design that gets a lot of use through the season.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
