After years of looking at holiday animal designs this kitten is one of the ones that just gets the balance right. Its cute without being goofy, the proportions are proper illustrated-style rather than caricature. The cat sits in a relaxed pose with a tilted Santa hat and a small green scarf, and the 8-colour palette covers everything from the cream body fur to the pink inner ear detail.

Stitch count runs from 10889 at from petite 3 in up to 22120 at 7.51 inches wide, and height ranges from 2.33 to 4.99 inches. The density is 590 across the fur body sections, which is firm enough for clean coverage but not so tight the fabric bunches under the hooped area. Use cutaway stabiliser for anything with give to it, knits especially, and use a water-soluble topping on velvet or fleece to stop the pile from coming through the satin. The directional stitching in the fur changes angle across different body zones, which is what gives it that soft three-dimensional look when its finished.

A customer texted me a photo in November after stitching the 5-inch version onto a holiday jumper for her daughter, and the detail in the whiskers and the eye highlights came through realy well even at that scale. Pick up 8 bobbins in a matching neutral to run the colour sequence without stopping. Best on mid-weight cotton or felt where the stabiliser can anchor the density properly. Text me on chat or leave a message in your order if any files are missing or the format doesnt load.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas jumpers and sweatshirts for cat loversCentre the 5.5-in centred on christmas jumper chest in a colour that contrasts the fur sections for maximum detail visibility; white base works best.
  • Holiday gift items for cat ownersStitch onto a small pouch or gift bag as a standalone decoration for a cat-lover holiday present; the 8-colour palette looks genuinely festive.
  • Christmas stocking personalisationa 3.5 mini fits a stocking front panel nicely with room for a name below in a simple font; one customer had me do a set of four for her cats.
  • Festive pet bandanas for catsA wide ribbon bandana for a cats holiday photo session works at the smallest run; tearaway behind ribbon keeps it from shifting during stitching.
  • Holiday tote bags with a feline themePut it on a printed-fabric tote in the full 8-colour palette for a festive and personal cat-themed gift bag that gets used long after Christmas.
  • Christmas card crafts and fabric panelsStitch on a fabric panel, frame it in a round wooden hoop, and gift as holiday wall art for a cat owners home; the kitten face centres really well.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
