Two kittens sitting together, one nudging a wrapped christmas gift with its paw. Both wearing those little red santa hats with the white pompom on top. Its a portrait-style composition, fairly tall and narrow. The design stacks vertically which makes it work really well on a christmas stocking front or a tall mug wrap, and it doesnt take up much horizontal space either.
Five colours give each kitten distinct character. One is a warm ginger tone, the others closer to cream or pale tabby. Red hats, white trim, and a small patch of green and red gift wrap near the bottom anchor the christmas palette. Stitch counts are light given the size. Smallest size is 3,705 stitches at 1.33 inches wide. Largest goes to 7,675 stitches at 2.86 inches wide. So this is a narrow vertical design and dont expect it to fill a wide landscape placement.
I been selling cat christmas designs for a few seasons now and I get messages every year from people who have two cats and want something that subtly represents both of em. This design works for that without being too literal. One customer last christmas put it on a navy stocking with each cats name underneath and it was genuinely lovely.
Hoop stable woven cotton or a felt christmas stocking blank. Pair cutaway under stretch fabrics because the satin column areas on the hat brims need support. Good underlay run matters here since the kitten faces are detailed for their size. Avoid going below the 1.33-inch smallest size because the facial details will get muddy.
Center it on a stocking, add it to a towel header, or stitch it on a cat-themed holiday card fabric square. If any size renders blurry on import send me message.
