Two chubby cartoon penguins decorating a christmas tree together, one is passing a gold star up toward the top and the other is hanging a red bauble on one of the branches. They both have tiny red scarves wrapped round their necks and those round black and white penguin shapes you recognise straight away. The tree behind them has got 8 colour elements: green branches, multicolour baubles, and the gold star detail sitting on the top branch.

8 colours total and 5 sizes ranging from 3.47 inches wide max 7.41 inches. Stitch counts go from about 13,800 at the smallest all the way to 34k on the biggest. The penguin bodies use directional stitching on the black sections so you get that smooth feather-like finish rather than a flat solid fill. Digitising this one took time to get the scarves looking natural instead of stiff.

Pop light cutaway any stretch fabric to keep the penguin body fills from puckering. On stable woven fabric like cotton canvas a tearaway works fine. Pop the design centred on a pale background, navy or pale grey lets the black penguins read clearly without disappearing into the fabric.

Last christmas season ya wouldnt believe how many people ordered this for kids items. One customer made a whole batch of personalised fleece blanket panels for her grandkids, the 7 inch version centred on each one. She told me the kids loved seeing their names added next to the penguins.

Its a lil design with a lot of personality, good for anyone who wants festive without full-on traditional christmas imagery.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids christmas sweatshirts and jumpersA 5-in motif on a pale blue or white kids sweatshirt centres perfectly on the chest without feeling crowded.
  • Personalised fleece blanket panelsOn a fleece blanket panel the 7 inch version fills the space well and the bold outlines show up clearly on pile fabric.
  • Christmas stocking frontsStitch on a felt or thick cotton stocking front for a friendly christmas scene that kids will recognise.
  • Childrens cotton tote bagsOn a small canvas tote the penguins make a sweet gift bag that doubles as a reusable christmas gift wrap.
  • Holiday pyjama set embellishmentOn matching pyjama tops for siblings or cousins the scene works because both penguins make it feel like a pair.
  • Gift bags for kids presentsA 3.5-in motif on a muslin drawstring bag is fast to stitch and makes a charming gift wrap for small presents.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
