This reindeer face design came out of a request I kept getting this christmas for something that looked like it belonged on a holiday sweater, and this is exactly that. Wide green antlers branch up from the top, a red Santa hat sits snug between them, and a string of round coloured lights drapes across the antler tips. Each light bulb is its own little filled circle in a different colour. The reindeer face itself is minimal, big dark eyes, round pink nose, small pink ears. Very kawaii in proportion.
10 colour changes total across the full design. The digitising work was done in my main software so the satin outlines on the antler branches stay clean at the 2.07-inch smallest size all the way up to 4.55 inches with 11608 stitches. 4 sizes total, stitch counts going from 5105 at the small end to that 11k range at the largest. Use a soft cutaway, and for anything with pile like fleece or a terry base, add a topping layer so those small bulb fill circles dont sink.
A customer ordered the 4.55-inch version last december for a batch of christmas jumper projects she was selling at a craft fair and told me the colour changes were manageable because each thread section is a clear distinct shape. She said she sold out of the jumpers first day. The directional satin on the antler fill makes the green look richer than a flat fill would.
Run this on kids christmas pyjama tops, holiday tote bags, fleece blankets, sweatshirt fronts, or festive aprons. Use a firm bobbin thread and trim all jump threads between colour changes so the back doesnt get messy on the 10-colour run.
