Worked on this squirrel design for a solid while because I wanted the fur to actually look like fur, not just a flat orange satin blob. The directional stitching runs in short strokes following the body contour so you get that layered depth in the coat, especially around the cheeks and the big bushy tail. Seven thread colours, stitch count goes from 25,667 at 3.5 by 3.38 inches up to 61,286 at the full 7.5 by 7.23 inches. Thats a dense design, density at 1,130, so backing matters alot here.
Hoop a heavy-weight cutaway for this one, no shortcuts. I stitched the 7.5 motif on charcoal fleece last month and it came out brilliant, the orange fur really pops on dark backgrounds. The white pompom and the white tail highlights need a clean underlay or they drift into the surrounding colour. Back this with a polymesh cutaway if youre going into thick fleece or sweatshirt fabric.
A customer ordered the 5 inch feature on red christmas sweatshirt for her daughter and the detail on those little whiskers came through clean at that size. Embroider on a hooped piece of navy or forest green felt if you want a patch style, then cut around the design outline, its a clean look. Seven colour changes in sequence, dont skip any or you lose the layered shadow effect on the tail.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
