Theres something about a stocking stuffed to overflowing that always gets a reaction. This one has the lot, holly, berries, candy canes and those round berry clusters all piling out the top of a deep red stocking with a white cuff. The arrangement is generous and lush looking without being messy. Very traditional in colour palette, which is exactly why it works year after year without going out of style.
The density on this one is high, 1,019 stitches per square inch on average, so the red stocking body stitches out very solid and the greenery has real depth to it. 6 colour stops across red, white, two greens, a soft pink and a dark brown-green for the leaf vein accents. Stitch count ranges from 19,452 at 3.5 inches wide up to 49,051 at 7.5 inches, so the largest size is gonna take a good while in the hoop. Use cutaway stabiliser on the big sizes, dont use tear-away for anything over 5 inches on this design, the fill density will pull it right off mid-run.
This christmas past I had a customer order it 3 times in one week to make a matching set of tea towels and stockings for her kitchen. Stitch it on a linen apron bib, pair with a matching tea towel and you have a proper homemade holiday gift set. The tall format works especially well on anything that hangs vertically.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Stitch directly onto a fabric christmas stocking cuff or body panelThe tall proportions suit a hanging fabric stocking panel without cropping
- Embroider on a holiday apron bib as a traditional seasonal designAt 5 inches wide it fills an apron bib centre without crowding the edges
- Use on a christmas tea towel as a classic festive kitchen motifFits a tea towel centre panel cleanly at the 4.5-in build
- Put on a throw pillow cover for a traditional holiday home lookA 5 inch placement balances well on a 16 inch square pillow cover
- Stitch on a table runner panel repeated with even spacingUse the 3-in chest repeating every 8 inches along a table runner
- Embroider on a gift bag or reusable fabric gift wrap as seasonal packagingDense fill holds up well on lightweight cotton gift bag fabric
- Use on a sweatshirt or hoodie front for a classic christmas lookThe full 7.5 inch version fills a sweatshirt chest as a statement piece

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
