Put together this christmas stocking with gifts design and honestly its one of the more detailed ones I've done in this category. The stocking sits upright, full looking, with a striped red and white cuff at the top and different coloured wrapped gifts peeking out the opening. Theres a candy cane leaning out one side and a lil gold star topper sitting above everything. The stocking body has a patterned fill, not flat, so it reads layered and dimensional when its stitched out.

Fourteen colour threads on this one which is the most complex in the christmas range, the stitch count tops out around 42,000 on the largest size. Use cutaway stabiliser on everything, even woven cotton, the density at 938 stitches per square inch on this design means the fabric needs solid backing. Five sizes available from about 2.8 inches up to just under 6 inches wide, heights run 3.5 to 7 wide so the big one is a full front panel piece.

I had a customer last november who stitched the large size on a canvas wall hanging and shared the photo, it looked really good, almost like a painted illustration. She asked me send her the full colour thread list and Ive since added that to the product details. Message me if you want the complete thread breakdown before you start and Ill send it over straight away.

Stitch on natural linen, cream canvas, or dark navy for the best contrast on the 14 colours. Avoid stretchy fabric for this one, the complexity doesnt hoop well on jersey or fleece. Use topping on any textured fabric like hessian or terry so the satin details dont disappear into the surface. Run the biggest size slowly on your machine, the jump stitch count is high and slower speed reduces loose threads between colour changes.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas wall hanging centrepieceThe biggest size on a natural linen wall hanging panel makes a detailed christmas decoration that looks almost illustrated.
  • Holiday canvas tote front panelCentred on a plain canvas tote it becomes a festive holiday bag that doubles as a gift wrapping for a present.
  • Festive linen cushion coverUse the 5 inch hoop for a cream or ivory linen throw cover for a holiday room decoration with real visual weight.
  • Christmas gift bag decorationStitch a medium size on a cotton or burlap gift bag front for a handmade touch that upgrades the presentation.
  • Holiday apron embellishmentPop it on the chest of a plain canvas apron for a fun christmas gift that gets used each holiday season.
  • Seasonal framed hoop artThe smaller sizes work well in a hoop for a framed textile art piece that can go up each year as decor.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
