Black sketchy christmas whale, super striking single colour design this. Its a leaping humpback whale shown side-on with mouth open showing baleen ridges, body curved and tail flipped up. Massive branching reindeer-style antlers stretch up from the whales head, decorated with tiny hanging ornaments and stars dangling off the antler tips. The whole thing is in one black thread with fine sketchy line work through the body and detailed dangly ornament strings.

Single colour, just black, no thread swaps mid-run. Stitches go from 21,972 at the smallest 4.42 by 4.38 inch up to 39,528 at the biggest 7.51 inch wide version, density at 706 medium-heavy. The build sits in digitising tools, Ive sloped the satin column along the body fills and fine running stitch covers the antler ornaments, the whale reads like a vintage etching. Customising the colour to a dark navy or deep green is super easy in your machine software for a different feel.

Best on cream cotton, oatmeal canvas, natural linen, or sand felt where the black ink reads sharp against the neutral fabric. Use medium tearaway stabiliser, the density is moderate but the long horizontal layout needs fabric stability. Skip stretchy jersey, the fine line work will pull crooked. Pop topping above terry or waffle so the lil ornament dangles ride clean above the loops. Run polyester thread for the black, itll keep the line crisp through wash cycles. Hoop straight grain because the whale layout sits wide and asymmetric. Use a 75/11 sharp needle for the etched detail and the ornament dangles.
