Its a wreath but the leaves are fern fronds, not the smooth oval leaves you get in a classic laurel. Each branch carries a row of small pointed leaflets sitting tight against a central stem, the kind of botanical pattern you see on actual maidenhair fern or bracken. The overall shape is a wide open U rather than a taller arched one, so it reads like a botanical specimen rather than a trophy symbol. Dark green, one colour, no changes.

Use a medium-weight tearaway on cotton or linen for sizes up to 4 inches, and a light cutaway for anything larger. The 68 trims sound like alot and its abit more than the classic version, but the machine handles all of them automatically, each leaflet gets its own stitch path. Density is 290 per inch, which is comfortable for most domestic machines. I had a customer message me this spring saying she ran and the 4.51 inch size sits well on cotton canvas without a topping and it stitched out perfectly, so on structured fabric you dont always need one.

And measure your hoop carefully before committing to the 5.13 x 7.51 inch size, the branch tips reach close to the hoop edge on a standard 5x7. Go with the 3.51 or 4.51-inch width for most projects, they give breathing room on both common hoop types. Pop the 2.40-inch on a shirt collar or napkin corner and it fits without crowding.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Embroidered on a linen table runner as a botanical centrepiece bandLinen table runners take the 4.51 or 5.13-inch size well, the wide low shape fits across the runner without crowding the edges.
  • Stitched onto a cotton kitchen towel as a natural herb garden accentKitchen towels are tight-weave cotton so no topping is needed, hoop with a medium tearaway and the leaflet detail stays crisp.
  • Used on a canvas tote for a farmers market or garden themed giftCanvas tote bags at the 3.51-inch size sit centred on the bag panel without getting lost in the canvas texture.
  • Sewn around a monogram on a linen napkin ring or place card holder baseLinen napkin rings need the 2.40-inch size with a water-soluble topping to stop the open weave catching on the narrow leaflets.
  • Placed on a shirt breast pocket as a subtle botanical motifShirt breast pockets take the 2.40-inch size with a small tearaway, its narrow enough not to overlap the pocket edge.
  • Added to a cotton apron bib as a kitchen garden or cooking themeApron bibs work at the 3.51-inch size on medium cotton canvas with a tearaway backing.
  • Used on a wall art hoop with pressed-flower styling on natural linenNatural linen on a 6x6 hoop pairs with the 4.51-inch size, back with a light cutaway and no topping needed.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
