Heres the colored pencils with bow design and its 6 colours of pure back-to-school energy. Three sharpened pencils, two deep purple ones flanking a golden yellow one in the centre, all crossed in a tight bundle and tied at the middle with a coral pink ribbon bow. Last may a customer ordered 14 of these for an end-of-year teacher gift run on natural canvas totes and they sold out the same week.

The pencils sit at proper sharpener angles with the natural beige wood tips exposed, and the directional stitching down each shaft makes the wood grain actually read. Bottom of each pencil has a mint green eraser ferrule with a coral stripe band where the metal hits the wood. Its a tiny detail but it pulls the bow colour through the whole piece so the palette feels intentional.

Stitch on cream canvas, oatmeal linen, pale grey or soft sage for best contrast. The yellow pencil really wants light fabric to glow, and the coral bow pops against natural cottons. Skip dark navy or black, the wood-beige tips disappear and the satin yellow turns dingy. Skip patterned shirts too, the bundle silhouette wants a calm background.

Use mid cutaway behind on totes and apron canvas, and on knits like jersey tees drop a mesh wash-away topping so the satin fills dont sink. The bow has alot of layered satin column work so slow your machine on those sections, around 700 spm keeps the loops crisp without thread breaks. The 6 colour palette runs about 8 colour changes, you can simplify down to 4 if you skip the eraser stripe band.

I get messages every august from teachers asking which design holds up wash after wash on a tote, and this one does. The 5x7 hoop size sits dead-on for a tote chest panel, the 4-inch fits an apron pocket, and Ive seen it stitched onto a pencil case lid for a small art-class business. Drop me a line if the colour stops dont line up with your thread chart and Ill resend mapped to your brand.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Teacher gift tote bag for end-of-year appreciationStitch it on a beige canvas tote and add the teacher's name underneath in a small script.
  • Art teacher apron pocket for the studio classroomThe bow placement reads really well on a chest pocket, no need to size up.
  • Pencil case for back-to-school suppliesRun it on a thick zip pouch in cream cotton, the pencils show up clean against light fabric.
  • Lunch bag for an elementary or art-focused studentBest on a 10 inch hoop placement, leaves room for a name tag patch above it.
  • Wall hoop in a kids playroom or homework cornerLooks cute in a pale wood hoop, the coral and mint pull a kids room palette together.
  • Throw pillow for a craft room or homeschool nookOn a linen pillow cover the wood-beige tones really warm up a cluttered craft space.
  • Library tote for a book-club moderator or reading teacherWorks on a sturdy canvas with reinforced straps so the bag holds a stack of paperbacks.
  • Smock or coverup for an after-school art programSkip the eraser stripe on this one to drop down to 4 colours and save thread changes.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
