Heres the colour splash cat and its one of the bolder cat pieces in the shop. The kitten is a soft grey tabby with white chest fur, big curious eyes and a tiny pink nose. The fur uses proper directional stitching so the tabby stripes and the cheek texture actually read like fur, not a flat grey patch. 9 sizes from 3.5 to the 7-in jumbo and 11 thread colours total.

Behind the kitten sits a big paint-explosion shape in electric blue and bright orange, dripping past the chin like someone threw a bucket of paint at a brick wall. Its flat satin fill, no shading, which makes the splash pop against the realistic fur on top. Last christmas a customer ordered a batch on cream cushions for a cat cafe in brighton and the orange drips carried beautifully across the room.

Stitch on plain dark or plain light fabric for best contrast. Black, white, navy or heather grey all let the blue and orange splatter show up properly. Skip patterned or busy fabric, the kitten has alot of fine fur detail packed in and a noisy background turns it to mush. Skip waffle weave and terry too, the satin splash wants smooth fabric.

Run a heavy cutaway stabiliser, slow the machine to about 600 spm on the splash sections, and the dense fur runs around 23,000 to 61,000 stitches across the size range. Pop the smaller 4 inch on a pencil case lid, hoop the 7 inch on a tote panel, and itll carry a plain canvas bag on its own. Send me a photo if you stitch one, I love seeing where these end up.
