Two colorful cute cartoon birds on a branch, and my mum stitched this one on a children's sweatshirt and emailed photos that honestly stopped me mid-scroll. The one on the left has this mad crest of curling red and purple feathers that shoot straight up, and the right one is all blue and purple with a yellow belly. Both of them have those massive round kawaii eyes that take up about a third of the face. Its ridiculous in the best way possible.

21 colours, 20 colour changes, 95 trims in the smallest size. Density is 1,169 which is high, so use a medium-weight woven cutaway stabiliser under this one, not tear-away. Back it with proper woven cutaway and the feather sections wont pull or bubble. The crest on the left bird has the most layers so if youre running it on stretchy knit fabric, float the hoop rather than hooping the fabric directly. 9 sizes from 3.13 inches up to 6.74 inches, stitch counts 22,317 to 59,112.

The colour sequence is long but each stop is short. Red comes in first for the crest tips, then brown, then a series of orange and peach tones through the belly areas, yellow, dark magenta, the blues, pink, and black last for the outlines and eye pupils. Write your thread list before you start stitching so youre not hunting colours mid-run. Skip the topping on plain wovens and just hoop normally, the dense fill handles itself. Stitch the 5-6 inch chest on a white fleece blanket for a nursery and it reads like an illustrated character print.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Children's sweatshirt or hoodieAt 4-5 inches on a child's chest the scale and colour pop make it look like a custom character piece.
  • Kids' backpack or school baga 3.5 mini fits a backpack front pocket panel with no crowding.
  • Baby blanket corner or nursery cushionOn a white fleece blanket the bright colours show up strongly without any extra topping needed.
  • Tote bag for a bird loverBird lovers go for the large 6-in on a stone cotton tote, it reads like a painted illustration.
  • Youth room wall hanging in a hoop frameShown in a raw 7-inch hoop frame the feather detail and eye gloss fill the display nicely.
  • Gift pouch or pencil case for a childA pencil case in white or pale yellow fabric lets all 21 colours read clearly.
  • Tropical or boho throw pillowOn a neutral cushion cover the tropical colour palette reads as a boho accent rather than a kids piece.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
