Ping me if you cant figure out the colour count on this one because honestly it caught me off guard too when I first looked at the file. Nine colours in the chameleon alone, not including the scatter of abstract leaves and paint-splash shapes floating around it. The chameleon itself is a close-up portrait, the big round eye is the centrepiece and its done in layered satin fills in teal, cobalt and navy that make it look almost 3D. Then the body is basically a colour explosion, cyan scales around the jaw, hot pink and red on the crown, electric yellow and orange on the neck, lime green patches lower down.

Digitised in my main digitising tool with a density of about 1,147 per colour zone which is substantial. The largest size runs just under 60,000 stitches, thats the 7-inch version, so not a beginner hooping job. Use a solid cutaway stabiliser, the scale detail and satin column work on the scales and eye area needs something firm underneath or it shifts. Topping on any textured fabric like fleece or terry will help the satin stitches sit flat.

Stitch it on a black or white cotton tshirt and the 9 colours absolutely pop. Ive also seen it work brilliantly on charcoal canvas bags, the contrast is wild. Skip anything pastel, those colours need a strong background to show properly. Run at slower speed, there are alot of colour changes and the eye section in particular has dense layering.

A customer ordered this one last month for a kids bedroom cushion project, she wanted the 5-inch detail on navy cotton canvas. Came out looking like art. Best on woven cotton or canvas with a good quality rayon thread set. Add water-soluble topping for anything with texture.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
