Monarch butterfly shown in side profile and the realism is dialled in. Both wings sit folded forward so you see the layered fills clearly, deep red on the top sections, bright orange through the middle and golden yellow filling the lower wing areas. The body sits centred with two slim antennae reaching up and three pairs of legs reaching forward.
Solid black runs along both wing borders and theyre dotted along the edge with small white spots, around 40 to 50 white dots total across both wings. Honestly the black border with the white spots is what gives this butterfly its proper monarch look, not a generic garden butterfly. The layered colour fills mimic the actual wing pattern realy closely.
So I drew this with butterfly garden merch, conservation theme tees and nature lover gifts in mind. A customer ordered the 5.5 inch version for a butterfly habitat fundraiser last spring and stitched it onto cream linen tote bags as donor thank you gifts. Im also seeing it on tea towels for garden enthusiasts and pollinator week tshirts.
Comes in 5 sizes from 3.51 wide to 7.51 wide. Stitch count runs 21,749 at the smallest up to 52,392 at the largest, this is a dense design. Theres 7 colours total including red, orange, yellow, black, grey, brown and pale cream for the body. Density sits around 1,083 spi means and is heavy for fabric handling.
Stitches cleanly on cotton, canvas, denim and linen. Skip thin chiffon, silky satin and lightweight muslin because the dense wing fills can warp delicate fabric. Use cutaway behind any tee and pop tearaway under canvas and denim. Im quick to resend a fresh file if anything fails on download.
