Sea turtle seen from directly above, shell facing the viewer, and its the shell that makes this design work. Each polygon section of the shell is a different colour, almost like a mosaic or a stained glass window effect, so you get real visual complexity from 13 colours all pulling together across the dome. The flippers spread out at the four corners, small rounded head at the top, dark green outline holds everything together.

The colour spread is big, teal, turquoise, sea green, coral orange, sandy yellow, olive, and several transition shades between them. Doesnt look like other turtle designs I've seen, the shell colour approach is closer to a kaleidoscope tile pattern than a plain animal fill. I digitised this one specifically because my kids kept asking for ocean gear and I couldn't find a turtle design that wasnt kinda boring.

5 sizes, 3.51 inches wide at the smallest up to 7.51 by 4.42 inches at the largest. Stitch count from 14,263 to 34,557 at the full size. Use a good cutaway stabiliser, with 13 colour changes and a density of 1,041 you need a firm base under the hoop. Cotton canvas and denim handle it well, terry cloth or waffle fabric need a mesh wash-away topping laid over the top to stop the stitches sinking in.

White, navy and aqua fabrics are all great choices. The 13-colour shell really pops on white, and on navy the teal and turquoise shades catch the eye immediately. Works brilliantly on beach bags, kids backpacks, sun hats and water bottles pouches.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Beach or swim bag front panelA large size centred on a white canvas beach bag makes an ocean-themed piece that beats any printed alternative.
  • Kids school backpack patchThe mid-size version stitched onto a kids backpack pocket flap is the kind of detail that makes a bag feel special.
  • Canvas sun hat front panelPop the small size on the front panel of a cotton sun hat for colourful beach headwear that wont fade in the wash.
  • Coastal home cushion coverOn a white or aqua cushion cover the full-size turtle makes a coastal decor piece that coordinates with any beach house room.
  • Holiday souvenir tote bagA tote bag with this turtle on it makes a great holiday souvenir gift, especially stitched on natural jute or cotton.
  • Children's room wall hoop artMounted at the 7 inch mark on white linen this makes cheerful ocean nursery or kids bedroom wall art.
  • Water sports and dive gear bagsStitched on a canvas gear bag or dry bag pocket the turtle works as a fun identifier for snorkel or swim equipment.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
