My mate Carla runs a little surf-themed gift stall at the weekend markets and she sent me a message last week saying she'd just hooped her third canvas tote in one afternoon because her customers kept asking for more. Thats exactly why I digitised this one. Its a sea turtle mid-glide, shell done in sky-blue tatami sections with dark navy outline lines separating each panel like real shell plates, and the flippers are this deep forest green with fine directional stitching that gives em texture. Five hibiscus flowers in coral red, golden yellow, burnt orange, hot pink and salmon pink bloom all around it, satin petals fanning out with a raised feel you can actually run your fingers across.

At the 7.5 inch size youre looking at around 47,000 stitches, so this isnt a quick lunch-break hoop. Pop a cutaway stabiliser under your fabric and dont skip the underlay on those petals or the satin fill lifts at the edges on terry or fleece. On linen or canvas the density sits really nicely without any topping needed. The 4 inch version keeps all the detail and thats the one I'd reach for on a youth tee or a zippered pouch front. Hoop your denim tote tight, centre the design, and let the machine do its thing.

Stitch it on a plain navy cotton beach bag and the colours just pop against the dark fabric. Use a 40-weight rayon for the flower petals if you want that sheen, it makes the coral red in particular look almost wet. Avoid cheap bobbin thread on something this stitch-heavy, it shows through on the back of linen and customers do flip bags over to look. Pick a stabiliser rated for the fabric weight and give the jump stitches a proper trim before gifting.

Flag me down if the metallic thread frays on you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Beach tote bagRuns clean across a navy canvas tote front, the blue shell reads from ten feet away.
  • Kids swim bagTote bags with a zip top really suit the 6 inch, plenty of room for the hibiscus crowns.
  • Canvas zip pouchHonestly my favourite spot for this one is a natural-canvas zip pouch, cream background makes those colours sing.
  • Youth tee frontThe 4 inch sits on a youth tee without crowding the chest, stitch count stays under 20,000 at that size.
  • Terry beach towel cornerCorner of a white terry beach towel works, just use a light water-soluble topping so the loops dont eat the satin petals.
  • Linen wall hoopA 7.5 inch hoop on natural linen framed as wall art looks proper boutique, customers ask where to buy it.
  • Baseball cap front panelFront panel of a structured cap takes the 3.5 inch nicely with a tear-away backing.
  • Denim jacket back yokeBack yoke on denim is the statement piece, the full 7.5 inch version fills the space just right.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
