I made this drip zebra design back in september for people who wanted an animal print with attitude, not the usual plain zebra stripes, but something that looked like the stripes were literally dripping colour. Five colours: the base black stripes, the white or cream stripe gaps, and three drip tones which I kept as vivid contrasting hues so ya get that graffiti-style pop against the animal pattern. Nine sizes run from 3.25 inches wide at the smallest up to 6.97 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall, stitch count going from 9,556 on the small end up to 25,756 on the large.

Density at 493 is on the lower end and that was deliberate, the drip sections have long narrow satin columns running vertically and overly dense fill in those sections causes column buckling on knit fabrics. Lower density means they lay flat on a cotton jersey hoodie without pulling the fabric sideways. Pair light cutaway stretch fabrics and a firm tearaway on woven canvas or denim. The drip tips at the bottom of the design are the finest detail points, slow the machine down for em or youll get fraying at the ends of the satin columns.

White or cream base fabric is the most obvious call here, it lets all five colours read as intended. Black base fabric can work really well too if ya swap the white stripe thread to a light grey or silver, the colour drips still pop against dark backgrounds and the effect looks more dramatic and street-art-style. Avoid mid-tone fabrics like charcoal or olive, there isnt enough contrast for the design to read cleanly. Pair with an Africa-themed or safari collection if you're building a range, the contrast between this bold drip style and a classic realistic animal portrait is really nice for a shop lineup.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Bold streetwear hoodie chest designStitch the 5-in motif on white or black cotton hoodie chest using firm cutaway, slow the machine at the drip tips.
  • Fashion-forward tote bag front panelUse the 5-inch piece placed on a canvas tote front panel, white or black base lets the five colours show at their best.
  • Pop-art themed bedroom cushion coverthe 4 in piece on a white cotton cushion cover looks bold and modern, cutaway backing for the knit cover fabric.
  • Safari-inspired kids room wall hoopUse the small 4-in on cream cotton muslin in a hoop for framed wall art, tearaway or cutaway depending on fabric weight.
  • Festival or event custom merchandiseThe 5-in motif on white cotton tee works well for festival or event merch, tearaway on pre-shrunk woven cotton.
  • Art-style patches for denim jacketsThe 3.25-inch size on a denim patch with firm cutaway, stitch first then heat-apply or sew the patch onto the jacket.
  • Bold gym bag embroidered side panelStitch the small 4-in on a black canvas gym bag side panel, cutaway stabiliser on the flat woven base fabric.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
