Sketched this out after a customer posted in a farm-lovers group asking if anyone made a Christmas chicken design that wasnt realy just a chicken in a hat with no personality. So I drew two of em. Two chunky cartoon chickens, standing side by side, butter yellow body fills, round black outlines, each wearing a small scarlet santa hat with a white pompom on top and a pair of oversized black wayfarer-style sunglasses. Theyre suprised to be there. Thats kinda the whole vibe, Im not gonna argue with it.
Done in professional embroidery software so the 10 colour stops run clean at density 1,089 across 5 sizes, 3.23 inches wide at smallest up to 6.92 inches, height range 3.51 to 7.51 inches. Top size runs 56,593 stitches, smallest is 22,653. Because theres alot of fine detail in the sunglasses and hat brims, at smaller sizes run the 4.5-inch or larger for best legibility. The black outlines are satin at the edges and the yellow fill uses a layered underlay to keep the colour even on knit fabric.
On a yellow kids tee its genuinely funny. The butter thread against yellow jersey blends the body into the fabric slightly which gives it a printed-art feel rather than a hard embroidered look. On a white tee youll get every colour popping separately and the full 10-colour drama comes through. One customer ran the 5-inch file against a kids Christmas jumper and said her daughter wouldnt take it off. Bold claim but I beleive it. Farm-themed kids items are a massive market, chickens especially.
Add it to a farm-shop apron for a novelty Christmas gift. Pop the 3.23-inch version on a stocking cuff for a chicken-keeper in the family. Use it on a canvas tote for a market stall. Stitch it on a teatowel. Run the largest on a round hoop for a farmhouse wall piece. Dense fill. Chunky. Yellow. Done.
