I get messages every october from customers who want festive but not frightening, and this one is always at the top of the list. I put alot of thought into the colour balance, eleven stops but the white body dominates and the orange bucket pops without overwhelming it.
Its 14,617 stitches at 2.98 inches wide by 3.5 tall. Density is 217, which means the body has good coverage without going stiff. The shadow tones on the ghost underside are subtle directional fills that give the shape a soft volume, you want to preserve those by using a stabiliser that doesnt shift mid-stitch, so go for cutaway here, medium weight. On a knit or jersey fabric add a topping film over the white sections to keep the satin crisp. Stitch the body fills before the outline passes, the professional digitising software sequencing already handles this but worth checking. Use a slower stitching speed on the smaller pumpkin bucket elements, the carved face features are narrow satin and benefit from steadier tension.
Pair this with an autumnal warm-toned fabric for the best result. I stitched a test run on a soft caramel-coloured fleece blanket and it honestly looked like something from a boutique shop. Works great on kids items too, the non-scary vibe means it travels well across age groups without anyone objecting to it. Light cotton is a reliable base and holds the 11 colour detail cleanly after washing.
