Hand-drawn pencil sketch of a curious cat kitten in 2 colours, looking up and slightly to the side. Ears pricked. Mouth open just abit, like its watching a moth on the ceiling. Whiskers fanned out wide on both sides of the muzzle. The whole thing is pure line art, no satin fills anywhere, just crosshatched directional stitching that mimics pencil shading on paper. I drew the original with a 2H pencil aswell, then digitised it slow so the lines kept that hand-feel.

Two colours total. Black for the dark contour lines and soft grey for the lighter shading on the cheeks, chest and ear interiors. Crosshatching builds up depth on the chest fur. Sparse linework on the chin keeps the face open and expressive. Eye gets a single dark dot for the pupil and a bunch of fine lines around the lid. Atleast in my opinion the linework around the muzzle is what sells it. Real classic kitten energy.

Im getting messages alot from people stitching this for cat moms and cat dads. One customer ordered the 5x7 last christmas for her sisters birthday tote, sent it back as a thank you photo. Stitches really light too, between 6,910 on the small to 16,026 on the 7-in cap size. Low density at 376k makes this kitten one of the friendliest sketch designs in the catalog if youre new to line work.

Stitch on cream or white cotton, the linework wants a clean light base. Linen works great. Avoid jersey unless youre using a firm cutaway stabiliser, theres long unsupported lines that like to wander on stretchy bases. Hoop tight. Pop a topping on if ya want extra crispness on dark fabric. Use a fresh 75/11 sharp needle to keep the lines clean. One last tip. Slow yer machine speed down. Sketch designs hate going fast.

Two paragraphs of warning. Done. Just send if file gives ya trouble and Ill swap fresh zip for you.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
