9 colors, 5 sizes from 2.13 to 4.56 inches wide. The cat is standing up on its back legs, front paw lifted like it spotted something and just pulled up short. The head is angled back and slightly to the side, which gives it that classic cat expression where you cant tell if its curious or judging you. The coat stitches in layers, dark grey outer shell, lighter grey on the flanks, almost white on the chest and belly. Short strokes for the outer coat, longer sweeping ones along the back. The tail wraps around behind and down, which anchors the design at the base and keeps it from looking like its floating.

Stitch counts run 12,809 to 34,568, nine thread colors, 8 changes. Density is 1,011 so this one needs a decent backing. Tape a cutaway behind your fabric before hooping, the tall narrow shape can shift if the stabiliser isnt flat all the way to the edges. Use a medium-weight cutaway on shirts and bags, the standing pose pulls more than a flat fill design. The smallest at 2.13 inches fits a shirt pocket perfectly, but dial in your bobbin tension before running it, the layered coat stitching gets crowded at small scale.

Customers asked last year for a standalone cat that wasnt sitting or sleeping, something with a bit of attitude. This was the one I kept coming back to when I was working through options. The raised paw reads immediately and the eye detail closes it, looks alert rather than decorative. A lot of cat designs feel stuffed-toy flat and this one doesnt.

Email me if you run it small and the coat definition isnt coming through clean, there are a couple of hooping adjustments that can help.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cat lover sweatshirt or hoodie chest designAt 4.5 inches tall the full-body silhouette centres well on a sweatshirt left chest.
  • Pet portrait tote bag or canvas bagThe tall narrow shape fits a zip pouch front panel without needing to resize down.
  • Kids bedroom hoop wall artStitched on a tote bag with the cats name below it makes a personalised pet gift.
  • Denim jacket sleeve or back panelOn a denim jacket sleeve the cat height works with the sleeve length on adult sizes.
  • Zip pouch or cosmetic bag front panelIn a 5-inch hoop frame on natural linen it reads like a hand-illustrated pet portrait.
  • Cat-themed kitchen towel or apronAt the smallest 2.13-inch width it fits on a shirt pocket without overrunning the seam.
  • Gift for a persian or maine coon ownerOn a kitchen apron bib panel the upright pose gives the illusion the cat is peering over the hem.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
