The curls are the whole point. They fill most of the design space. Big looping strokes that stack over each other, some tight coils near the crown and loose waves falling outward toward the edges. The face is almost secondary, you notice the hair mass first and then your eye finds the lips and the profile underneath. Its kinda the right way round for this subject.

And its only 2 colours. Red at the lips, black for everything else. The black satin for the hair uses thick looping strokes with intentional spacing between them so the fabric background shows through the curl gaps. On white fabric thats white showing. On pale blush or cream its that colour. On dark fabric the bobbin thread becomes part of the texture and it looks completely different, in a good way.

Four sizes from 4 inches to 7 inches. Stitch range is 7,010 to 12,121 which is a bit higher per inch than the other line art pieces because those curls are dense. One customer who runs a natural hair celebration shop messaged me last month, she needed a design representing curly-haired women and said she wasnt expecting how accurate the curl texture looked stitched out in actual thread. She came back for the 7-inch straight after for a larger tote run. Density at 329 is moderate, tear-away stabiliser is enough on woven cotton.

Light to mid-weight woven fabric is best. Canvas, cotton twill or plain linen all work. Skip terry or any plush fabric because the looping curl strokes will sink into the pile and lose definition. Hoop snug, the outer curl ends are the first thing to lift if the hoop tension is loose.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
