The whole point of a dachshund is the length, and this design leans into that completely. The light strand wraps the full body from nose right through to the tail, blue and purple bulbs spaced out along a looping wire, and the chestnut coat sits underneath in a warm satin fill. 6 colours total, and they dont fight each other, the cool tones of the lights and the warm chestnut brown actually complement really nicely. Stitch count runs 5,884 at the 3.51-inch width up to 13,558 at 7.5 inches. Density is 310, which is moderate and handles well on kraft canvas or heavier cotton twill. I built this in my usual software and mapped the underlay to follow the body length, horizontal underlay runs along the spine direction so the satin fill lays flat even on the longer body section. That matters alot on a long narrow shape because pull distortion can make the body look crooked if the underlay isnt directional.
Best on kraft canvas, waxed cotton, or medium denim. Avoid anything too stretchy, the long body shape needs dimensional stability or it bows. Use a full-coverage cutaway stabiliser and hoop the fabric firm, not loose. Pick the 7-inch size for totes and bags, the 5-inch for jacket placement.
