Worked up the Dear Santa The Wine Made Me Do It design in 4 sizes because honestly its one of those quotes that keeps coming up every single year in my request inbox. The layout mixes three different lettering weights to give it some rhythm, 'dear' in a small italic at the top, then Santa in wide bold slab caps with a lil Santa hat perched over the right side, then The Wine in bigger caps, then 'made me' loops through in a lighter cursive, and Do It lands at the bottom in the heaviest slab of the lot. Holly leaf sprigs with small berries bracket the design on both sides in dark forest green. The whole composition is roughly square, about 2.5 by 2.04 at the smallest and 5.5 by 4.5 at the largest.

my main digitising tool output the mixed lettering at a density of 606 with just 1 colour change across the run. Two threads: dark green and red. Density is 606 spi run and that is medium-light for a filled typography design, so it runs well on lighter fabrics too like a cotton drill tote or a fine woven canvas without needing the heaviest cutaway. I did test it on terry cloth and it needed topping, the cursive strokes in 'made me' are thinner and they sank into the loops without a stabilising layer on top. Use medium cutaway on most fabrics, bump to heavy cutaway on stretch knits.

A customer grabbed the 5.5-inch file for a set of personalised wine-themed christmas gifts last year, running it on dark canvas bags. Ive also seen this one end up on aprons, throw pillows, sweatshirt fronts, and once on a wreath-shaped felt hoop piece framed on a wall, which was suprised me but actually looked really nice. Pick the 2.5-inch size for smaller items like a mug mat or a wine bottle tag.

Stitch it on a black gym tote, a dark linen cushion, a festive apron front or a novelty gift bag for a wine-obsessed friend. Pop it on a holiday sweatshirt, frame it as a december wall piece or make a set of matching hand towels for a hostess gift. Dm me if anything stitches out differently than expected and Ill sort out the file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Black canvas tote for wine-themed christmas giftsThe 5.5-inch file sits neatly centred on a black gym tote front; dark green and red threads pop sharply against the black background
  • Dark linen cushion cover for festive home decorPlace the 4.5-in across a dark linen pillow front using medium cutaway; the mixed lettering weights give it an intentional hand-lettered look
  • Christmas apron front panel for a wine loverCentre on an apron bib at the 4-inch size with medium cutaway stabiliser; the quote reads well from a comfortable distance across a kitchen
  • Holiday sweatshirt front graphicHoop a stabilised sweatshirt fleece with a layer of topping; the thinner cursive strokes in the design need it to stay crisp on pile fabric
  • Mug mat or small wine bottle gift tagThe 2.5-inch file fits a small cork or linen mug mat; use 2 stops to swap between the dark green and red threads
  • Novelty hand towel set as a hostess giftMake 2 or 3 matching hand towels with the 3.5 baseline and present them as a set; a customer used linen finger towels for this and it worked really well
  • Framed wall hoop for december decorStitch the 5.5-inch design onto a stretched canvas hoop and frame it as a december wall piece; the balanced square composition suits a round frame

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
