My favourite kind of design to stitch honestly, the ones that look dead simple but come out with real impact. This is the dog and cat sitting side by side as a solid silhouette, 1 colour, no internal detail lines, just the clean outline of both animals together. The dog is slightly larger with those floppy ears, the cat sits upright next to it, tail curled around. Looks like every pet household Ive ever been in.
Because its a single colour build, the stitch count range is wide: 6,503 at 3.5 inches up to 25,541 stitches at the full 7.48 inch width. That jump happens because the biggest size fills every inch of silhouette with dense tatami fill to give it a solid fabric presence. professional tools handled this and uses directional stitching across the body zones so the full 7.48 inch version doesnt look flat. The density sits at 455 which is a comfortable run on most machines.
Pop a medium cutaway stabiliser under cotton twill or denim and youre good to go. Tearaway works fine on woven linen if you're doing a tote bag or cushion. One customer last spring ordered this in navy thread on a kraft canvas tote to give as a gift for a friend who had both a dog and a cat, which is honestly the perfect use for it. Stitch it in any thread colour you want since its single colour, so charcoal on oatmeal linen looks just as good as black on white.
Skip any fabric with a busy pattern or texture because silhouettes need a plain background to read. Back the 7 inch version with a sturdy cutaway and drop your speed a little on the dense fill sections. Use the 3.5-inch stitch on a hat or a small pouch and you get a sharp lil patch effect. Text a chat note if the file gives you trouble and Ill repair the punch. Drop your notes and Ill get back to you same day.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
