This ghost design is genuinely one of my favourite things Ive made. The idea of a little sheet ghost just vibing through christmas with a holiday drink and a gingerbread man, refusing to stop believin, its a bit ridiculous and people realy love it. Seven colours: the off-white ghost body, the green knit hat, red cup and pompom, the brown gingerbread man, black eyes and text, gold sparkles, and the holly green. Stitch count runs from 31,632 at 4.51 by 3.46 inches up to 55,437 at the full 7.51 by 5.77 inch size.
Dense piece at 1,279 density, so use a heavy cutaway and dont rush it. That beanie has a waffle-type texture built into the stitching, slow your machine down on that section or you can get inconsistent density in the ribbing pattern. Tape a poly cutaway under any sweatshirt fleece or thick jersey. That ghost body uses an underlay pass before the fill so it sits above the fabric pile cleanly.
A customer sent me a photo last week of this stitched on a black sweatshirt and honestly it looked like something youd pay boutique prices for. That pale ghost body on black is the best colourway for this one. Run it on navy or charcoal for a slightly softer contrast. Best on smooth cotton-poly blend sweatshirts where the stitch detail in the hat reads clearly.
Seven colour changes, sequence matters for the layering on the holly background. Hoop snug and check the hooping is centred before you start because the composition is wide and short.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Adult christmas sweatshirts and black or dark pullover hoodiesCentre-chest on a black sweatshirt is the best placement, the off-white ghost pops beautifully on dark fabric
- Funny christmas gift shirts for friends and coworkersThe wide horizontal format works great on a shirt pocket or as a left-chest placement
- Holiday tote bags and canvas pouches with a novelty twistUse the 4.51 inch wide version on a tote front, pairs with a plain black canvas for a clean look
- Seasonal zip-up hoodies and fleece jacketsThe 7.51 inch version fills a hoodie back panel, use heavy cutaway and slow machine speed
- Christmas party favour bags and gift wrappingStitch on individual bag flaps in bulk for a christmas party favour set
- Festive patches sewn onto denim jacketsHoop denim with a tearaway stabiliser and patch backing, the dark denim shows off the ghost well
- Iron-on patch projects for customising hats and accessoriesStitch on a felt-backed patch, trim to oval and iron-on to a beanie or jacket sleeve

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
