The donkey face is front-facing, those big round eyes looking at you with that classic donkey expression thats somehow both gentle and stubborn at the same time. The mane has a slight fluff to it, the ears are perked right up. 12 colours in here which is a lil suprising for what looks like a grey animal, but the build from light silver muzzle through mid grey body to the darker shadow areas under the ears is what makes it look like an actual donkey rather than a flat grey oval.

I do alot of farm animal designs and donkeys are genuinely underrepresented in the embroidery world. Every customer who finds this tells me theyd been looking for one specifically because they have donkeys or know someone who does. Its not a common subject so it tends to get attention when people see it on something.

9 sizes from 3.51 inches to 7.51 inches, stitch count from about 21,500 up to 49,300. Use cutaway stabiliser on anything with stretch, the density at 943 is moderate to heavy and needs the support. On firm woven cotton or canvas a medium cutaway keeps it stable without overkill. Avoid rushing the machine through the fur layers on the face, those are where suprised-looking distortions show up if the bobbin tension drifts.

Run the ear detail sections at medium speed and you can let the face fill go a bit faster. The muzzle lighter tones stitch after the main grey body, so make sure your hoop isnt moving between colour changes. Hoop it firm and leave it alone.

Cream, oatmeal, natural canvas, white, sage or dusty rose all work as base fabrics. One customer last spring stitched the 5-in across a dusty rose linen apron for her daughter who keeps donkeys. Done.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
