Three open flowers bunched together, all outline and no fill. Thats the whole idea here. Each bloom has five rounded petals radiating from a small circular centre, and the petals sit overlapping each other so the cluster reads as one connected piece rather than seperate flowers dropped side by side.

Vine tendrils curl out from between the stems, which is what stops this from feeling flat and symmetrical. The leaves have faint crosshatch shading lines inside them. Its the kind of detail that disappears at small sizes but shows up really nicely on the bigger hoopings and gives the piece some texture without adding a second colour. And the whole composition leans on a diagonal, which actually helps it sit more naturally on a curved surface like a sleeve or a bag strap.

Single black thread does everything here. One colour change, start to finish. I did a test run last spring on natural linen and the contrast was just right. Works the same on pale grey, white cotton, soft cream. A customer who does personalised tote orders told me this one layers well with a monogram underneath because the open outline lets the fabric background show through without fighting anything.

Backing matters more than people think with outline-only work. Run a firm woven stabiliser behind woven fabric and hoop with no slack. The vine tendrils are the first thing to distort if theres any give in the hoop, so pull it tighter than you think you need to. Skip stretchy jersey for this one, the outline lines wont track cleanly on fabric with any stretch to it.

Stitch count runs 13k on from a chest 3.5 to around 21k on the largest, so its a quick stitch even on bigger hoopings. Four sizes from just under 5 inches up to 8 inches tall. Holler if you need something outside those ranges and I can check what I can do.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Personalised tote bags and canvas shoppersStitch on natural or cream canvas tote and the bold black outline looks like a hand-drawn botanical print
  • Linen tea towels and kitchen textilesWorks really well centred on a linen tea towel, especially paired with a small herb or leaf motif on the corner
  • Denim jacket back panels and shirt pocketsPop it on the denim shirt-jacket back in the largest size and it has that vintage botanical tattoo look people go mad for
  • Botanical wall hoops for home decorHoop in a 7-inch frame with natural linen, leave the edges raw, and hang it in a reading nook or kitchen
  • Throw pillow covers in natural fabricsEmbroider on a pale grey or white cushion cover and it reads clean and graphic against the plain fabric
  • Floral aprons for home bakers and gardenersCentred on a linen apron bib, this sits at exactly the right scale to be visible without overwhelming the garment
  • Bookmarks and fabric book coversStitch on fabric-covered bookmarks or the front panel of a handmade fabric journal cover

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
