Four or five lily-type blooms scattered across a near-square layout, nothing touching the edges, nothing crammed together. Each flower has those long curved stamens with the little round tips at the end, the ones that look almost like pins or tiny globes. The petals have a ruffled wavy edge instead of a clean straight line, which is what stops it looking stiff. Arching stems connect clusters of small buds that havent opened yet.

Theres a lot of negative space in this design and thats by design, not laziness. The open layout means it reads as botanical illustration instead of a dense floral fill. Stitch it on a plain white or cream ground and the black thread does all the work. Because the whole thing is outline only, theres no heavy satin fill pulling at the fabric, just the line itself sitting clean and flat.

Two colours technically, black as the dominant thread and a small white pass that adds a secondary highlight on the outline sections. Three colour stops in total. Stitch count is modest for the size, 14k at 6 inches up to 18k at 8 inches, so it runs through fast. Last autumn a customer who makes botanical-print home linen told me this one stitched out on a natural linen pillowcase in under 30 minutes at 8 inches and the result looked genuinely like a printed fabric.

Use natural linen, white cotton, cream canvas or pale grey as the ground fabric. This is a light-ground design, the open linework and white highlight thread only read properly with contrast underneath. Avoid dark fabrics. Support the hoop with light stabiliser that tears away cleanly so the open areas dont distort. The near-square format suits cushion panels, tote bag fronts, tea towels and framed hoops equally well.

Three sizes: 6, 7 and 8 inch, all close to square. The stitch density is low at around 282 points which keeps the lines fine and crisp without bunching into thick columns.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Natural linen cushion covers and pillowcasesStitch centred on a natural linen cushion cover and the black outline against the raw texture looks genuinely like a botanical print
  • Botanical-print cotton tea towelsWorks on a plain flour-sack cotton tea towel and turns a basic kitchen staple into something that feels considered and styled
  • Tote bags for florists or garden centresA florist or plant shop tote bag with this design on the front reads as an extension of the brand without needing any text
  • Framed hoop wall art for living roomsFrame in an 8-inch hoop with a cream fabric ground and hang it as a simple piece of wall art in a living room or kitchen
  • Table runners and napkin setsStitch a repeat across a table runner or set of napkins for a cohesive botanical table setting for dinner parties
  • Plain white or cream shirt frontsPlace it on the left chest or centre front panel of a plain white linen shirt for a quiet, editorial fashion detail
  • Gift wrapping fabric and reusable cloth bagsEmbroider on a cloth gift bag and use it as botanical-print packaging that the recipient can keep and reuse

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
