Its a single eye but its got alot going on. The eye itself is wide open, a deep blue iris with a cobalt centre, ringed by a careful satin column pupil that catches light on fabric like nothing else. Around the top lid theres a sweeping curved shape in black, kinda like an exaggerated wing liner but executed in dense satin fill. The bottom is where it gets really interesting. Black baroque scrollwork curls outward and downward from the lower lash line, branching into 3 or 4 major spirals, some curling back on themselves, some reaching off the edge of the hoop.

The eyelashes themselves are done in fine individual satin columns, not just a flat band. Im a bit obsessive about lash work and this one came out clean. The skin fill around the lid is a warm peach with a blush salmon layer over the lid fold, which is what gives the 3 colours a sense of depth you dont normally get in a flat fill design. Eight colour changes, seven actual thread swaps including 2 different blues for the iris shading.

I made this last autumn for a customer who runs an optometrist clinic and wanted something unexpected for a waiting-room cushion. She said she wanted it to look like a fashion magazine illustration, not a medical diagram. This is what we landed on after 3 sketches. Since then I see it turning up on gothic clothing boutique aprons and beauty salon tote bags, which honestly makes more sense to me than the cushion did.

Best on black or dark navy fabric where the scrollwork disappears into the background and only the blue iris and peach skin glow out. Try it on a black cotton twill apron or a dark denim jacket. Use cutaway stabiliser here, the satin column density at 36k stitches on the largest 7.51-inch size is heavy and any movement in the hoop will split the satin lines. Slow your machine speed for the scroll sections.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Black cotton aprons for beauty salons and nail barsStitch the 5.51-inch on a black twill apron front and pair it with a salon logo on the chest pocket for a bold matching set.
  • Gothic clothing boutique tote bagsEmbroider on a navy canvas tote and sell it as part of a gothic fashion accessories range in your boutique.
  • Fashion brand denim jacket back panelsRun the largest 7.51-inch on a dark denim jacket back panel. The scrollwork fills the yoke area perfectly.
  • Optometrist clinic waiting-room cushionsPop the medium build on a charcoal linen cushion for a reception area that wants something more interesting than a plant.
  • Dark velvet jewellery pouchesStitch the smallest 4.51-inch on dark velvet fabric and sew it into a drawstring jewellery pouch for a luxury gift.
  • Framed wall art hoop displaysHoop the 5.51-inch in a 7-inch frame and hang it as a statement wall piece in a studio or dressing room.
  • Halloween costume bodice embellishmentsUse the medium size on a black satin bodice panel for a halloween costume that reads editorial rather than cheap.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
