Full blackwork, single colour, and somehow it still has alot of detail packed in. The fairy is facing away from you, silhouetted, with her gown spreading out at the hem like a ballgown. The hem section has this floral lace effect built into it, dense satin columns that open into petal shapes. Her wings are the main event though, big butterfly-shaped wings with a proper lace fill inside each panel, done with directional stitching so they catch the light differently from the gown. Scattered around her are small 4-pointed star bursts and 2 little heart shapes, just floating in the background space. Its a whimsical and magical composition that works in single black thread better than you'd expect.

I digitised this one in my embroidery software, which means the density runs at about 931 stitches per square inch across the 4 sizes. That puts the 7-in jumbo version just over 50,000 stitches, so dont rush the run speed on that one.

One customer told me she stitched the 4.5 inch version onto a black velvet scrunchie and it came out looking like a tiny gothic cameo. Wasnt how I imagined it being used honestly, but it worked. More commonly people use the larger sizes on tote bags, denim jackets, cushions. Pop a cutaway stabiliser onto anything stretchy, tearaway is fine for stable wovens like denim or canvas cotton. Hoop the fabric flat and centre the design before you run it. Skip busy patterned fabric here, the lace fill details need a clear background to read properly.

And if theres any trouble with the file after purchase just reach out, Im always around to sort things.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Embroidered tote bag for a fantasy loverStitch onto a plain black or cream canvas tote for a bold fantasy look that needs no colour at all.
  • Denim jacket back panel or pocket accentPop the large 7.5-in face on denim jacket back and it fills the panel without looking crowded.
  • Gothic or witchy themed cushion coverWorks beautifully on dark velvet cushion covers, the satin columns in the gown really show up on plush fabric.
  • Bookbag or backpack patch projectUse a firm cutaway stabiliser and stitch a 4.5 mid-size as a patch for bags or rucksacks.
  • Black velvet or silk fabric art pieceSingle-colour blackwork on silk or charcoal satin gives the lace wings a crisp detailed finish.
  • Personalised gift for a fairy tale fanFrame a hooped piece in a 6 inch hoop for a simple gift, no mounting or framing skills needed.
  • Halloween or dark-aesthetic fashion accessoryGreat for Halloween fashion pieces or witchy market stall items, the silhouette reads gothic but elegant.
  • Wall hoop art in a bedroom or reading nookHoop onto natural linen and hang as small wall art, the fairy floats nicely against a cream background.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
