Most fairy designs go full colour and end up looking like a birthday cake. This one doesnt. Its a side-profile silhouette of a fairy in full flight, body angled up and forward, one arm stretched ahead like shes reaching for something, long skirt or dress trailing out behind her. The wings are where Im putting the detail. They spread wide and have this internal lace vein structure stitched in fine lines, looks like you could see through them if you held the fabric up to a window.

4 colours keeps the thread changes to 3 stops which is a real easy run. Deep near-black for the body, mid-grey with a slight blue undertone for the wing upper sections, and then white for a tiny cluster of small circular accent stitches sitting right at the base of the wings where they meet the body. Its a quiet detail but it lifts the whole wing. Stitch count runs from 9k at the smallest to 28k at the largest and the design stays clean at every size because the silhouette approach means there is no fine face or finger detail to lose.

Stitch on off-white linen for the best result because the grey wing fill picks up the linen warmth and looks a bit aged, very collector-print vibe. Use standard tear-away on woven cotton or medium cutaway on any slightly stretchy fabric. Avoid dark fabric unless you want to stitch the body in off-white instead and invert the colour scheme, which actually works really well. A customer reached out last spring after stitching the 5-inch run on pale blush linen for a bridesmaid gift pouch and said her friend cried when she opened it. Text me if you want a re-export in a specific format and Ill see to it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Fantasy and fairy-themed apparel for adultsStitch on a pale pink or cream sweatshirt and the monochromatic palette gives it that quiet understated quality that adult fairy fans actually prefer over the kids stuff
  • Framed hoop art for bedroom or nursery wallsFrame in a 7 or 8-inch hoop over ivory linen and its wall art that a lot of customer tell me they hang in their reading nooks
  • Bridal and bridesmaid personalised giftsWorks on a small linen pouch or book sleeve as a gift for any reader or fantasy fiction fan, the silhouette fits the literary aesthetic really well
  • Book sleeve or journal cover fabric panelsBoutique bookshops use this on canvas totes for their fantasy section merchandise and it photographs well for instagram
  • Linen tote bags for bookshops and gift storesEmbroider on a plain cream pillowcase and its the kind of bedroom accent that doesnt scream fairy but you notice it and like it
  • Girls room cushion covers and pillowcasesMakes a great bridal party gift item on personalised tote bags or cosmetics pouches especially for woodland or fantasy themed weddings
  • Whimsical fashion patches and jacket backsA jacket back patch on denim in the 6-inch size is a strong look, the diagonal flying pose fills the upper back area really naturally

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
