Mocked up a few different bat scatter layouts before landing on this one. Nine bats total, all solid black silhouettes, spread across the frame in a loose diagonal drift from upper left down to lower right. Biggest one sits near centre with wings fully spread, smallest ones near the edges are maybe a quarter of that size. Each bat has a slightly different wing position so it genuinely looks like a real scattered flock rather than one shape tiled across the hoop.

Its a single colour fill, no outlines, no shading, just solid satin coverage on each shape. Density is light, 220 stitches per square inch, which is why the stitch count tops out at only 8,149 on the 7-inch size. That low count means it stitches out fast and wont stiffin up lighter fabrics like organza, cotton lawn or a thin knit. Wilcom EmbroideryStudio digitising, wing curves are properly smoothed so edges dont pixelise at the small bat sizes.

Five sizes from 3.01 by 2.26 inches up to 7 by 5.3 inches. Use the large as an all-over graphic on a sweatshirt front. Stitch the medium on a tote or a pillowcase corner. Run the smallest on a card-stock embroidery patch or a Halloween gift tag backing. Avoid dense weaves like canvas if youre going with the smallest bat shapes, the fine wing points need a tight plain-weave or smooth cotton broadcloth to keep their edge.

A customer ordered several size batches for a set of Halloween table napkins she was selling at a craft fair. She stitched the large on black linen napkins and said they sold out the first morning. Best with a light tearaway stabiliser on woven cotton, and skip the topping unless youre going onto a thick fleece.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
