White stork standing on one red leg in shallow water, neck curved forward, beak pointing down like hes thinking about fishing. The wing feathers are mostly white with pale blue-grey wash shading on the shoulders, then stark black on the outer flight feathers and tail. That contrast between the fluffy white breast and the glossy black wing tips is what gives the bird so much presence. Red beak is long and pointed, same deep crimson on both legs right down to the clawed toes.

Below the feet theres a set of concentric water ripples stitched in icy blue thread, and the birds reflection sits underneath in a mirrored echo of the red legs. Its a small detail but it grounds the whole design and makes it feel like a proper nature illustration rather than a plain bird cutout. Six colours total, 21,965 stitches at chest size and up to 56,725 at the full-size 7.5-inch. The feather layering uses fine underlay passes to build loft in the chest area so the white plumage actually looks abit fluffy on fabric.

Stitch on natural fabrics. Cream or oatmeal linen, natural cotton, ecru canvas. The white breast needs a pale background or itll disappear completely. Skip anything darker than a light sage. Pair soft cutaway behind woven fabric and a water-soluble topping on looser linen to stop the feather stitches sinking into the weave. Speed down slightly for the beak satin column.

I had a customer who stitched this on a set of cream linen napkins for a dinner party last october and sent me photos, they looked absolutely beautiful on a natural wood table. Works well on tote bags, cushion covers, framed hoop art, or as a sleeve accent on a linen blazer. Pop the chest 3.5 on a shirt cuff or collar for a subtle nature detail.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Nursery wall hanging fabric panelThe 6-inch size works well on a linen wall hanging panel; hoop with firm cutaway and stitch slowly through the dense feather layering sections.
  • Baby shower gift bag embroiderythe small 3.5 suits a gift bag front; use medium cutaway on cotton or linen and keep bobbin tension consistent for the narrow leg and beak columns.
  • Linen throw pillow bird motifThe 5-inch size fills a throw pillow front; hoop medium-weight linen with firm cutaway and use a topping if the fabric has any surface texture.
  • Baby blanket corner wildlife accentthe small 3.5 sits cleanly in a blanket corner; back with soft stretch cutaway and slow the machine for the narrow satin leg sections.
  • Tote bag nature-themed graphicThe 5-inch size works as a tote bag graphic; hoop canvas with heavy-duty cutaway and allow time for the full stitch-out at the mid-range size.
  • Framed hoop art stork portraitThe 6-inch size fills a standard embroidery hoop for framed art; back with firm cutaway on tight-weave linen and stretch evenly before framing.
  • Cotton bib front wildlife designthe small 3.5 fits a bib front; use firm cutaway on cotton terry and add water-soluble topping to keep fine beak and leg satin lines clean.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
