The whale is diving, body arched in that classic humpback curve, tail flukes raised above the centreline. The whole body is filled in dense cobalt blue with the stitching running in long directional lines that echo the whales actual muscle flow. Sitting around the outside of the body are circles. Lots of them. Small ones, bigger ones, scattered organically like bubbles rising up. They add this decorative quality that takes it way beyond just a wildlife illustration.
Two colours only: that strong cobalt blue and warm gold for the outlines and bubble rings. Its low on thread changes which people genuinely appreciate, one colour change in the whole file. Density is 28k on the biggest 6.73-inch size, which is kinda moderate for a design this detailed. Wilcom kept the satin density sensible so it doesnt pucker on medium-weight fabrics.
I been getting alot of ocean-themed requests lately and last autumn this whale specifically came out of a conversation with a customer who was doing gifts for her mums coastal-themed bedroom makeover. She wanted something artistic not kitschy. Its the gold outline thats does it, it gives the piece a jewellery-illustration quality rather than just a sea-creature patch and she loved it.
Best on dark fabric honestly. Black cotton, charcoal twill, deep navy jersey, the cobalt and gold read really strongly against dark grounds. Skip pale or white fabric because the blue fills lose contrast and the design kinda disappears. Use a medium cutaway on jersey, tearaway on woven cotton. Hoop a 7.5-in run on a dark navy canvas tote and its the kind of piece you'd see in a boutique shop for forty pounds, honestly.
Email me if anything with the file seems off and ill look at it for ya right away.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
