Heres the excited little bird and atleast a dozen people on instagram have asked me about him. Cobalt blue cartoon bird perched on a brown branch, both wings flung up wide like he just heard the best news of his life. Big googly eyes wide open, yellow triangle beak hanging open in a surprised gasp, peach pink blush spots on each cheek. The chest fluff is a soft dusty pink that pops against the bright blue feathers.

Around his head theres abit of comic-book magic. Six or seven blue droplet shapes burst out around the top, the visual shorthand for shock or surprise. The wings spread out symmetrical like a stretching kid in the morning, each feather rendered in directional satin so ya can actually count em. White highlights on the eyes give him that wide-awake look. Eleven colours total which is alot, mostly handling the feather shading.

And one customer ordered the 7.5-inch size for her sons fourth-birthday party tee back in october. She sent photos, ya could see the goofy bird from the back of the room. Since then I get messages aswell from preschool teachers and nursery mums who want him on aprons, lunch totes, and reading-corner cushions. Hes a big personality for a little design.

Stitch this one on light fabric for max impact. White cotton, cream waffle weave, butter yellow jersey or pale blue chambray all work. Pop a small 3.5-inch on a kids onesie chest. Run the 7-inch on the back of a hoodie or a school book bag. Skip dark navy or black ground here aswell, the dusty pink chest washes out and ya lose the cheek blush detail thats half his charm.

Density runs heavy. 68k stitches at the largest size and just over 31k at the smallest. Mesh cutaway stabiliser is the move on knits, light tearaway holds woven cotton fine. Hoop firm and slow ya machine speed for the directional feather satin. Heres a tip, swap to a sharp 75/11 needle for the small surprise droplets. Avoid stretchy jersey on the biggest size, its alot of density to ask of soft fabric.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
