Its a full blackwork silhouette, the whole fairy from the meadow at her feet to the tips of her wings done in a single black thread. She stands side-on with her head slightly bowed, long flowing dress that fans out at the bottom with layered directional satin fills that give it real movement. The wings behind her are the big feature. Big ornate butterfly wings, the kind with carved-out swirl cutouts and a lacy edge so the white of the fabric shows through and makes em look translucent.

Scattered all around her are circular dot clusters on thin stems, like seed heads in a field, and loose scroll vines curl up past her feet. Theres a small butterfly shape hovering near her outstretched hand, which is a nice lil detail you only spot when youre looking close. The whole composition fills a square frame naturally, wings spreading left and right, dots filling the negative space between em.

I made this one for a children's boutique owner in march who wanted something for girls room hoops that wasnt too babyish. She needed it to work framed on cream linen aswell as stitched onto a tote. Honestly it does both realy well. The blackwork approach means it reads clean at the 4 inch pocket size and dramatic at the full 7 inch hoop size.

Stitch on cream or white cotton for maximum contrast, the lacy wing cutouts only read properly on a pale ground. Pair the 5 inch on a girls canvas tote bag or a linen cushion cover. Pop the largest 7 inch version in a 8-inch wooden hoop and hang it in a bedroom. Use a medium cutaway stabiliser under any fabric with stretch, the wing outlines are fine satin column work and need a stable base to stay crisp. Wilcom digitised the swirl fills with directional underlay so the surface texture actually looks like carved lace, not just flat density.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
