The hat is genuinely the main character here. Its taller than the body, a pointy cone shape done in horizontal stripe bands of orange with a crosshatch sketch texture inside each band. The tip curls over slightly at the top. Below that hat you get barely any face, just the eyebrow area peeking out and a pair of round glasses rendered in dark magenta, then the beard takes over completely. Its huge. Sand-coloured and white, sweeping down and outward in long satin columns that give it a soft sheen, with the ends curling up at the bottom in those classic gnome scroll curves. The body is mostly hidden by the beard and hat but ya can see purple chunky hands up front clutching a bunch of crimson autumn leaves, and two rounded purple shoes poking out at the bottom. Real storybook character energy.

8 colours, 7 thread changes. The stop sequence runs dark magenta first for the glasses and hat accents, then sand and white for the beard, a warm peach orange for the hat body, white highlights along the beard edges, a brighter orange filling the hat stripes, two red-orange shades for the leaf cluster, and black for the outline work. At the 5-inch size its at 22,598 stitches, at 7 inches it reaches nearly 33,000 stitches, which puts this in the dense range. Hoop firm and use a good cutaway stabiliser, the beard volume needs it on any stretch fabric. Use a medium-weight tearaway on stable woven cotton. Stitch on oatmeal, cream or soft grey to let the magenta and orange pop forward properly. Skip dark fabric here, the orange hat stripes and sand beard both lose contrast against charcoal or black.

Ive had a few customers who paint ceramics use this alongside gnome pottery for coordinated shop displays in october. One customer who runs a seasonal pop-up at a midwest market stitched a whole batch on oatmeal sweatshirts and sold out by 11am. Dm me if you need help with thread colour matching for the darker magenta sections, thats the one stop people ask about most.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
