Built in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio, this one took the most passes of any fall design Ive made this season -- 13 colours, 12 colour changes, 116 trims -- and its the most detailed thing in my autumn collection. The truck is the old kind, flat-fronted with round headlights, the plank sides of the flatbed are stitched in warm brown with individual boards visible. Three gnomes: one gripping the steering wheel inside the cab, one standing tall in the bed with pumpkins at his feet, one perched at the bumper like he's riding on the outside. Maple leaves float around the whole scene.

At the largest 5.22 x 7.51-inch size you're looking at 75,557 stitches and a density of 1,927, which is high. You need a good heavy cutaway stabiliser, definitely use a topping on any texture, and plan for roughly 45-60 minutes of machine run time at standard speed. Stitch the medium 4.5-inch file if you want the same detail at a faster run -- still 60,000-ish stitches but more manageable for a first attempt at this design.

The colour palette is all autumn: white underlay, a warm salmon-orange and a separate dark red for the truck panels, orange for the pumpkins, a dusty pink flesh tone for the gnome faces, khaki for their hats, grey for wheels and trim, and a dark chocolate brown for the wood plank bed. Run the colours in sequence and dont skip the underlay passes -- the density wont lay flat without them. Best on a burlap pillow or a heavy canvas bag where the fabric weight matches the stitch density.

One customer ordered this specifically for a farmhouse-themed Thanksgiving table and came back the following week to order the matching Christmas gnome file. A lot of customers who grab this one are making fall home decor pieces that go up in mid-September and stay through Thanksgiving. The truck-and-gnome combination reads farmhouse without being cliche. Pair with a warm caramel burlap front panel and back in coordinating plaid flannel for a pillow that feels genuinely handmade.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Burlap pillow front panel for fall farmhouse living room decor through October and NovemberCut a 9x10-inch rectangle of natural burlap, hoop with heavy cutaway and topping, stitch the large 7.51-inch file centred, then sew into pillow cover with flannel back.
  • Heavy canvas tote bag for a fall farmers market or pumpkin patch outingUse the medium 6.5-inch tall file on heavy black or natural canvas, cutaway backing, hoop vertically to fit the design height, canvas bags handle the stitch density well.
  • Quilted table runner panel stitched on cream cotton and incorporated into a patchwork layoutStitch the smallest 5.5-inch file on a 7-inch wide strip of cream quilting cotton, then incorporate as a statement block in a fall table runner with coordinating patches.
  • Autumn wreath centre piece, stitched on linen, mounted on a round foam baseMount the stitched piece on a 10-inch grapevine wreath ring, the horizontal truck composition fits the natural curved frame well.
  • Large hoop wall art in a 8-inch frame for a fall mantel displayHoop on natural linen in a 9-inch hoop, leave mounted in a raw wood frame, press the linen taut with spray starch before hooping for a clean finish.
  • Fall decor swap gift, stitched on a premade pillow cover and given as a seasonal housewarmingStitch on a 20x20-inch pillow cover blank, back it with kraft tissue paper to protect during shipping, makes a well-received October housewarming gift.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
