Every single bit of the heart shape is filled with tumbling oak leaves and scattered acorns. Theres no background showing through inside the outline, just leaves facing every direction with small acorns tucked between em. The leaves carry that proper burnt orange colour, the kind you see on a november sidewalk, and each one has an individual black thread outline so they read as separate shapes even when theyre layered tight. Acorn caps get the same black treatment. 2 colours, 1 colour change on the whole run.
I went with oak leaves deliberately rather than maple, the lobed shape packs tighter and fills the heart outline more naturally without gaps at the edges. Pick from 5 sizes, 3 inches wide up to 7 inches. At 3 inches its at 11,200 stitches, hops through quickly. The 7-inch hits 29,900 stitches and the tatami fill on the leaf bodies is dense but Wilcom runs it without pulling the fabric if you hoop tight. Each leaf gets stitched in its own directional angle so they look like theyre actually mid-fall. Stitch on navy, black or forest green for the strongest orange contrast. Skip pale yellow or cream fabric because orange-on-light loses impact fast.
Ive had a few customers use this on kids name panels, they stitch the heart then layer a monogram letter at the centre. Works on navy jersey and rust-coloured twill really well. One customer who teaches primary school art used this last october as a class demonstration on cotton muslin, the kids went mad for the tossed-leaves pattern.
