Sketched out this one as a proper little Christmas still life. Four items grouped together in a sort of flatlay arrangement: a whipped-cream coffee cup on the far left with a green sleeve, a tall pine tree centre-back with red round ornaments and a five-point star on top, a red wrapped gift box front and centre with a chunky green bow, and a Santa hat flopped over to the right with its fluffy grey-white fur brim. Five sparkle-style snowflake stitches scattered around tie the whole scene together.

The pine tree is the tallest element, giving it a nice layered depth. Branches are a dense directional tatami in deep green with slight colour variation between rows to stop it looking flat. The Santa hat is the most technically interesting bit, its fur trim is done in a short loopy satin to mimic the plush texture. Gift box wrinkle lines are fine running stitches over the main fill, which gives it a slightly sketched, almost hand-drawn look rather than a flat rectangle.

One customer last December ordered this on a set of five aprons, one for each person joining her for a baking day, which is honestly one of the better uses Ive seen for it.

Five colours and five sizes, smallest at 2.27 by 3.5 inches and the large at 4.87 by 7.5. Density is 1,032 stitches per square inch with 37,703 stitches on the biggest version, so a medium cutaway is the go-to stabiliser. Run a test sew-out first if youre putting this on a knit or stretchy base because the coffee cup outline can pull without proper stabilisation.

Really well suited to cotton canvas, medium-weight quilting cotton and fleece. White or cream backgrounds are brilliant because the red reads properly bold. Light grey and oatmeal linen also work nicely. Avoid anything with a heavy texture or busy print, you want those fine snowflake stitches to actually show up.

Pick your size based on what youre stitching onto, check thread colours match the five listed in your software, and stitch away.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
