This reindeer is properly flying. Legs kicked out front and back like its mid-gallop across the sky, neck stretched forward with that red-eyed slightly wild look on its face. Teal-coloured antlers curve up and back, tangled up with a string of coloured fairy lights in green wire. Stars spray out to the right, five-point little stars in yellow, green, pink and orange scattered like confetti. The crescent moon sits upper right in a flat satin gold fill.

The reindeer body itself is done in warm amber-orange directional stitching so the fur reads with proper texture, white spots across the hindquarters add the classic deer marking. Red jingle bells sit on a collar round the neck. At the top of the antlers theres a small cluster of flowers or foliage that adds extra volume up there. 13 colours makes this one of the busier thread setups in the range, but Wilcom pulled the transitions cleanly so alot of the colour changes happen in logical zones.

The motion in the design is what people keep commenting on. Its not a static standing reindeer, its going somewhere. One buyer who does custom christmas sweaters for a ski lodge ordered this for their december guest gift bags and said it was the first reindeer design where the reindeer actually looks like its flying, not posing. That was this christmas and theyve reordered already for next year.

Stitch on dark backgrounds where the multicolour stars really sing. Navy, forest green or charcoal give those yellow and pink stars maximum pop. The gold moon on dark fabric looks brilliant. Skip cream or white here because the stars loose some of their drama on pale grounds. Pop this on a navy sweatshirt and the whole thing glows.

Use a cutaway stabiliser for best results, the directional fur stitching on the body needs stable backing to stay crisp. At 38k stitches on the biggest size, tension across the satin star fills is key, keep your bobbin wound evenly and go slow on the antler teal sections.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
