Fully loaded christmas tree, the type that doesnt have a single bare branch. Round baubles in red, aqua blue and golden yellow are scattered across two shades of green, and between them theres gold bell clusters and upright red candles flickering at the tips. A golden star sits on top and diagonal ribbon garlands cut across the whole thing in a warm burnt orange. Its busy in the best way, looks like the tree you grew up with.
The tree body uses two greens, dark forest green on the inner depth and a brighter kelly green for the outer needle tips, and the contrast between them is what stops it reading as one flat blob. Wilcom laid the directional stitching on the branches so the individual layers are visible. The baubles are smooth satin fills, no texture, which keeps them looking shiny even in thread. Black outlines hold everything together at any size.
Four hoops are in the download, smallest at 4.5 inches and largest at 7.5 inches. My niece wanted a christmas jumper last november with a tree that was properly decorated not just a triangle, so this is what I put on hers. She asked for the 5.5-inch on a dark red sweatshirt and the aqua baubles really stood out against it. Drop it on red, navy or black and the greens sing. White works too but the detail gets a bit lost on pale fabric.
Stabilise with cutaway on knit fabric, theres over 43,000 stitches at the largest size and the density needs support. Tear-away is fine on woven cotton for the smaller sizes. Hoop the fabric firm before you start and the bobbin should sit evenly under the garland sections.
Drop this on a christmas tee, jumper, tote or festive apron and youre sorted for the season. Kids love the bright colour palette and it holds up to washing without the satin areas pulling.
